How To Keep Your Carpet Looking Good As New

Catherine Edwards

Whether you're thinking about having new carpet installed in your home or you have recently replaced your flooring, you want to make sure that it stays looking as good as possible. As most people know, carpet is one thing that can quickly and easily get dirty. When it does, it ages quickly and can hold various bacteria and germs that are harmful to your family. Luckily, there are several things that you can do to ensure that your carpet remains clean and fresh, including the following:

1. Vacuum on a Regular Basis.

One of the fastest and easiest ways to remove dirt, dust and allergens from your home's carpet is to vacuum it. To some, this seems like an obvious solutions; however, vacuuming is not something that many people enjoy doing so they don't do it as often as they should. High-trafficked areas in the home should be vacuumed regularly (as often as possible, daily even, if possible). If not, dirt, dust, etc. will become embedded into the carpet and can eventually be difficult to remove with a vacuum. Areas that receive light traffic can be vacuumed less frequently, such as once a week.

2. Immediately Clean Up Spills.

As a general rule, any spill that is made on carpet is going to stain it. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that any spill is cleaned up immediately to ensure that a stain does not occur. There are different solutions that should be used to clean up the spill based up on what was spilled. For example, hydrogen peroxide is best used for blood, while a grease spill can be cleaned up with hot water and some dish soap.

3. Have Your Carpet Cleaned by the Experts.

Last, but certainly not least, you should get your carpets cleaned by a professional carpet cleaning service. The frequency of having your carpets professionally cleaned will vary depending on your individual situation. However, it should be done at least once per year. If you have a large family and pets, it may be a good idea to have it done more frequently, such as twice a year. A professional carpet cleaning will not only help your carpet look great by removing any embedded dust and dirt, but it will also help it last longer.

So, if you are interested in ensuring that your carpet looks great and lasts longer, contact a local carpet cleaning service to schedule an appointment. For more information, contact a business such as Mass Carpet Cleanup.
