Graffiti, Power Washing, And Your Commercial Building: Get Answers To The Questions You Have!

Catherine Edwards

If you own a commercial building, you may be aware that graffiti can be an expensive problem. It has to be removed in order to keep your building looking great, but it can be costly to remove, especially if it happens over and over again. Instead of painting over the graffiti, commercial power washing, also called pressure washing, may be a cheaper option. If you have never utilized this option before, you may have some questions. Here are a few of the questions you may have about using commercial power washing services to remove graffiti:

Can Power Washing Be Done on All Surfaces?

Power washing can be done to remove graffiti from most surfaces. This includes stucco, metal, concrete, brick, vinyl, and wood. However, in order for pressure washing to be an option, the surface that is going to be power washed needs to be in good condition. If the wood is warped, if the paint is peeling or if the brick is flaking, pressure washing should not be done. It can cause damage to an already damaged surface.

Will Power Washing Remove Graffiti?

Power washing is most effective at removing graffiti if the graffiti is new. As such, you will want to call in a professional to pressure wash the surface as soon as you first notice the graffiti. However, even if the graffiti is new, there may be times when power washing can't lift it. In some cases, the paint may not lift depending on the type of paint used, the color of the paint used and the type of surface you have. If pressure washing does not lift the paint, it typically significantly reduces its appearance, which may make it less noticeable.

Are There Any Ways to Prevent Graffiti?

Anti-graffiti coatings can be sprayed onto your commercial building and surfaces to help ensure that graffiti does not stick and can easily be sprayed or washed away in the future. Many commercial power washing companies can spray this coating onto your commercial building. The surfaces that are going to be sprayed should always be cleaned and dried before the coating is applied to help it stick as best as possible.

Graffiti is something that you may be forced to deal with as a commercial building owner. Learning what options you have and getting answers to the questions you have will help you decide how to remove the graffiti from your building, sidewalks, and walls.
