My name is Penny, and in this blog, I'm going to cover cleaning techniques and tips for staying organized. Whether you are trying to wash a stain out of a shirt or keep on top of the vacuuming, I hope these posts help. I also plan to write about hiring professional cleaners for your home, office, or even your industrial facility. My hope is that this blog brings you as much joy as a clean space.

3 Important Things You Should Do Before Renting A Home To New Tenants

Catherine Edwards

If your old tenants recently moved out of your investment property, there are a few different things you'll need to do before moving new tenants into the building. It's important to make sure the building is clean, free of pests, and in the best condition possible before you start screening potential tenants and showing them the place to give them a full view of what it looks like on the inside.

Go Through the Junk

Believe it or not, but there are plenty of tenants who leave behind all kinds of items, including unwanted clothes, cleaning supplies, and even furniture they don't plan to use when moving to a new place. You may want to remove most or all these items long before you even start cleaning the home. If the previous tenants left behind a huge mess, you could benefit from hiring a junk removal company that would go through the home, take out all the different items, and dispose of them for you so that you wouldn't have to worry about doing all that work on your own.

Check For Any Potential Issues

The tenants who recently lived in the home may have kept it in fairly good condition. However, there could still be a few problems that must be addressed before you start renting out to new people. Check the pipes to make sure there aren't any leaks. If you happen to notice a small amount of water leaking from any of the pipes inside the home, make sure you hire a plumber to inspect the problem and then find out what steps you'd need to follow to fix that problem. For example, a pipe may be cracked. If it's cracked, it needs to get repaired or replaced with a new pipe that is in much better condition. It's better to handle these kinds of issues long before bringing in new tenants because you don't want to deal with huge leaks and other costly issues at a later time.

Have the Carpets Professionally Cleaned

If you're not planning to rip out the carpets in each room and replace them with new ones, you'll need to make sure you're doing a thorough job of cleaning them. Rather than attempting to clean the carpets on your own and missing a few spots or overwhelming yourself with a lot of work, hire a professional carpet cleaning company, like Steam  Local Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning, to handle the work for you. Their primary goal is to remove dirt while eliminating allergens, such as dust mites that may be lingering around on the floor.

The professional cleaners will be able to look for stains and lift those stains so that they're not noticeable to the people who will eventually move into the home. In fact, they'll likely bring a lot of different products with them to ensure they're doing the best job of cleaning those carpets. Some of the different products include deodorizers, stain removal sprays, and commercial carpet cleaning solutions. Once they finish with the cleaning process, the carpets throughout the home may look, feel, and smell as good as new, leaving a great impression on potential tenants who decide to check the place out before renting it out from you.

Before you start renting out your investment property to new tenants, there are certain steps you should take. Make sure you get rid of all the junk that may have been left behind by the previous tenants. Check for any potential issues, such as leaks or clogged pipes, and hire a plumber to fix those potential issues if necessary. Don't forget to have the carpeted floors cleaned in each room because then they'll smell good, look good, and leave a far better impression on those who are considering moving into the home.
