Which Areas In The Workplace Require A Deep Cleaning?

Catherine Edwards

Each month or year, there are certain areas of your house that you should perform a deep cleaning to. Well, there are certain areas of your office or workspace that need to be paid special attention to as well. While you may be able to handle some deep cleaning tasks at the office, there are some that just need to be left to the professionals. Keep in mind that if you fail to tackle deep cleaning in the work environment, it will spread germs and leave a bad taste (not literally) in the mouths of your customers and clients. Keep reading to learn of the areas that need a deep cleaning in your workspace.

The Kitchen

It makes sense that the kitchen would require a deep cleaning, since it is home to food-related spills and messes. Plus, in a work environment, the kitchen is not one specific person's responsibility to clean, unlike an employee's desk. Without an office cleaning service, the kitchen may go without a thorough clean. Here are a few specific areas in the kitchen that require a good deep clean—at least on a weekly basis:

  • The Fridge – More often than not, any mess that accumulates in the refrigerator is food that has gotten left behind from your employees. This results in a horrible odor and leakage on the shelves. Make it a rule to empty the refrigerator every Friday at the end of the day, and then have a professional cleaning service perform a deep clean afterward.
  • The Cupboards – It is not uncommon for food to get pushed to the back of the cabinets where dirt, dust, and crumbs collect. Even if plates, cups, and other dishware are the only items stored in the cabinets, dust can accumulate. Therefore, a weekly dusting should take place.
  • The Trash Cans – While trash may be taken out daily or weekly, depending on the size of your business, there are a lot of spills that take place inside of a trash can. Unfortunately, the insides of these bins hardly ever get cleaned. A deep clean of these trash cans should be done at least once a week.

The Bathroom

As a business, your bathroom is ultimately going to need a deep cleaning on a daily basis, as opposed to a weekly basis. In the bathroom, the following areas should be focused on:

  • Underneath the toilet bowl rims
  • The base of the toilets
  • The walls behind the toilets as well as the sinks
  • The walls and doors of the bathroom stalls
  • The interior of the trash cans

The Flooring and Walls

Floors tend to be highly trafficked, and because of this, they need to receive a deep clean regularly. One area in which the floors tend to be neglected is where they connected to the wall. The walls are often neglected as well. Unfortunately, this can cause your office to look unprofessional. Here are a few areas in which a deep clean should focus on:

  • The Baseboards – As a general rule, baseboards are white or off-white, which means you can see the dust build-up very easily. It is recommended for them to be cleaned on a weekly basis.
  • The Walls – Although dirt collects on the walls slower than the floors, they will become discolored over time since they hardly ever get cleaned. Walls should be cleaned on a monthly basis to avoid having to repaint them or even replace drywall that has become severely stained.
  • The Curtains – Over time, dust and dirt can build up on the curtains so much that you can't even tell what color they are anymore. To ensure your curtains remain looking great, they should be cleaned monthly.

The aforementioned is just a fraction of the areas in the working environment that need to be deep cleaned weekly or monthly. For more information, contact an office cleaning service in your area.
